On Wednesday the 1st November 2023, Tameside Council’s Planning Committee voted in favour of granting a planning consent for the Godley Green Garden Village. This is a fantastic achievement for the whole professional team who have worked tirelessly to ensure the masterplan and planning application were of the best possible quality.

Godley Green is a regionally and nationally significant residential development of circa 2,150 homes that will create a step change in the Tameside housing market over the next 15 years.

The Continuum team have been involved in the Godley Green Project since inception, over 6 years ago, when the initial focus was on the financial viability of the scheme. Since 2020, Continuum have taken a leading role with Murray Lloyd as Development Director and Helen Wilson as Programme/Project Manager on behalf of the Council.

Continuum led the team of consultants, including Gerald Eve and Planit, on the preparation of an Outline planning application for the site, and post submission, carefully managed engagement with Consultees to the point where the application received a positive recommendation.

Alongside promoting the site through the planning process, Continuum developed and implemented a comprehensive approach for land assembly across the site to deal with the 16 fragmented ownerships to ensure a deliverable proposition. Throughout the process, the Continuum team continued to closely monitor the financial viability of the scheme in light of market changes.

We look forward to sharing our knowledge and experience from this scheme with other clients hoping to deliver strategic development. For further information on how we can support you with your projects, please visit: Development Management from Continuum
